11. The law

D: I think the laws possibly got it quite badly wrong. More could be done to look after girls, by changing the law, and look after the clients as well but.. more importantly the girls. Erm.. if it wasn’t illegal, or if certain aspects of it weren’t illegal, then there would certainly be more protection for the girls. The rule about two people in one building, for instance, is just completely ridiculous.. why should that be illegal and one girl, on her own who’s more vulnerable is legal? That’s just one aspect, there are many. Er.. certainly I agree that forcible pimping of girls for instance and things like that, that shouldn’t be happening.. erm… but two girls working in one place seems to make sense. And even a well run, well organised brothel, erm.. they have them in other parts of the world, and not just in places like Thailand. Places like Australia for instance, and I’v been to them and I’ve been to ones in America yeah, and they’re much safer for the girls, they’re much cleaner, they’re much – theyre just better places. It stops maybe the immediate neighbours might get a little bit upset (chuckles) but it stops most of the problems I think, I think making it illegal just causes problems, it does push it.. into the realms of underground and therefore, and when its there it attracts criminal elements.

Its public opinion. Nothing else. Erm.. I’d say 99.9 percent of people associate paying for sex as something wrong.. um. They’re, in inverted commas opposed to it, and the law just reflects that. Whether that’s right or wrong is open for debate, but it reflects public opinion. Because girls should be virgins when they get married and.. im being sarcastic.. um. But that’s what it stems from. Girls should be prim and proper, boys should go round screwing as many as possible.. how can you do both? How do they fit? But that’s just the way people think, you know oh look at him, hes one of the boys, there’s no name, no names for, equivalent to slag tart whore for a bloke. There just isn’t so, yeah.. societies two faced I’m afraid.

E: Everything’s against the girls in a way, like in the industry.. all the punters, all the forums and stuff make it ..

I: So there’s no one you can go to which brings up the debate of like legalising it and um.. Regulating it-

You’d have someone to go to if your agency…was being dodgy and doing things they shouldn’t be doing, you’d have someone to go to. The guys play up, you feel like.. Obviously I would call the police, but agencies kind of don’t want you to call the police-

I: They’re like oh sort it out yourself.. Like you wouldn’t have those problems.
